About The Artist

Michael Armstrong was born and raised in Owen Sound, Ontario and with the exception of his university years has lived in the area all his life. He currently lives with his wife Joan outside of Owen Sound in Georgian Bluffs.

Michael has dabbled in woodworking for years. His interest in woodturning was sparked in 1993 when he read an article about turning wooden pens using a drill press. From these first efforts he has progressed and continues to challenge himself as he develops new skills and investigates different turning styles. He enjoys discovering the often hidden beauty found in many of the local woods but also works with exotic woods, antler and man-made materials.
